Challenge:

In 2012, Panasonic, one of Japan's leading companies, is reinforcing their business by focusing on environment-friendly-products. The challenge was to increase awareness of Panasonic's solar energy solutions for their reconstruction from Japan to all over the world.

Solution:

"Filming the sun, using the sun."
The annular solar eclipse crossed Japanese archipelago for the first time in hundreds of years. This remarkable event was live broadcasted, using only the solar energy, from the closest place to the sun, the summit of Mt. Fuji, the symbol of Japan. All of the power used for the live broadcasting was generated from Panasonic's solar energy system.

Result:

There was no broadcasting of ECLIPSE LIVE FROM FUJIYAMA due to bad weather, though we could bring "Filming the sun, using the sun." all over the world. The live broadcasting had approximately 500,000 viewers from 75 countries at the special website & mobile site. All the TV channels in Japan pick up this project, and posts on Reuters and CNN websites, advertisement value equivalency exceeded 13,000,000 USD.
